A few months after the first film's events, Professor Roy Curien at the fictional Cuesta Verde University (CVU) in Seattle has managed to subdue and contain a "Hyper sapiens" specimen, who is revealed to be his son, Rudy Curien (a survivor of Isla del Morte incident). Curien experiments on another survivor (Alicia), trying to determine the source of her immortality, with apparent disregard for the rotted state of Alicia's body. When Curien creates a serum that he believes will bring back the dead and grant immortality, Curien murders one of his students and injects her with the serum. She returns to life, infects Curien, and breaks out of the building.

On February 26, 2000, American AMS agents James Taylor and Gary Stewart are dispatched with their fellow agent Harry Harris and his British AMS partner Amy Crystal, to investigate and evacuate the populace of Venice. They suddenly encounter the impish Zeal, who had recently dealt with G. Upon finding a wounded G alive in a local library, James and Gary converse with him. G gives them a field journal showing the bosses and their weak points. The pair are then met with a massive undead horde, similar to the kind from the Curien Mansion incident. They continue on, trying to save the town's civilians from the zombies.

After Ellis gets back to the van, he sees the driver shot dead by Bart, who broke free from the dormitory by amputating his hand. Bart is driven insane and threats Ellis to give him the vial, he is shot in the back by Alex, who survives from the missile. While Ellis is happy to see Alex alive, Bart pulls the pin on a hand grenade, rolls it under the van, destroying it along with the vial as his last dying action.
In Guesta Verde University, the deranged Professor Curien is trying to bring back the dead, killing students for the experiment. There is an outbreak of zombies in the campus, and the government sends a NSA medical research team, formed by Dr. Alexandra Morgan a.k.a. Nightingale and lieutenant Ellis, with a special force leaded by lieutenant Dalton, trying to get the zero sample from the first generation zombie. The team has a very short time to accomplish their mission and leave the place before missiles are sent to destroy the area. However, the place is crowded of hyper sapiens and the group has to fight to survive.
In case you missed it, the Limidead Edition includes the remake itself, as well as an exclusive lenticular box, two character stands and a sticker sheet. Previously, publisher Microids had released the Limidead Edition for the Nintendo Switch version of the game back in May.
If you were ever a fan of arcade games, or want to scratch the co-op nostalgia The House of The Dead 2, will be nothing more than an entertaining game. Yet, if you enjoyed similar titles such as Killing Floor: Double Feature, Time Crisis, or zombie modes from the Call of Duty series, this title is right up your wheelhouse. Just keep in mind, it served as a starting point for those franchises, and it is a simpler, older, less detailed game than the ones it helped inspire.
As a casual fan of light-gun shooters, this is the best I've ever played. It's quite an intense game on a number of levels: The 3D graphics, the gore, the suspense...at the same time, a few things aren't so great. Gun calibration is tough, on top of that the trigger on the Mad Katz gun is too stiff (blister time). The InterAct gun is nice though. Overall, getting through using standard single-fire is very hard. It takes a lot of dead-eye accuracy.
A whole manner of nasties will ambush you at almost every turn, ranging from the run of the mill undead to acrobatic fellas who look like a cross between Stubbs the Zombie and Michael Jackson from the Thriller video.
